A British dad on holiday with his wife and daughter in the Caribbean has died in a snorkelling incident.

The man, whose named has not been released, arrived on St Kitts on Monday morning aboard a P&O Britannia cruise, local press on the island reports.

It's understood he was part of a 14-day group trip between Barbados and Southampton and took a group excursion alongside his family.

Details of the incident and whether he drowned or died of natural causes have not been disclosed.

The group had been visiting Peninsular Cove at the island's South East Peninsular when he got into trouble, local police said.

Other tourists on the trip were seen pulling the man from the water and giving CPR in a desperate bid to revive him.

The man was sadly pronounced dead by the island's District Medical Officer.

A post-mortem is set to be carried out on the man to confirm his cause of death.

The Mirror has contacted P&O Cruises UK for further comment.
