A bridesmaid says was left conflicted when, in a turn of events some have compared to a scene from cult classic Love Actually, she learned her friend's fiancé was in love with her. According to the anonymous woman, the lovelorn husband-to-be sent her a bunch of texts mere days before the wedding, declaring his "undying love" for her.

In the texts, her friend's fiancé admitted that he'd loved her "from afar" for months, but had no clue what to do about it. Just two days later, she had to watch as he exchanged wedding vows with her friend, feeling the whole time as though her insides were "screaming".

Writing into the Girls Overheard Podcast, the stunned bridesmaid said that this was the "biggest secret" she's ever had to keep.

In the letter, read aloud by one of the shocked hosts, she revealed: "What he wrote in the texts is some of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me although obviously highly inappropriate.

"He's loved me from afar for months and has never known what to do about it."

She continued: "This was two days before his wedding to my friend which I was a bridesmaid at. I had to stand there as they exchanged vows.

"As they asked if anyone objected my insides were screaming but I just couldn't say anything, especially after they let everyone know they're pregnant at the wedding."

The hosts likened the situation to a plotline from the classic romcom Love Actually, in which best man Mark (Andrew Lincoln) confesses his love for Juliet (Keira Knightley), the new bride of his best friend (Chiwetel Ejiofor).

A number of listeners just weren't sure however and saw the two secret confessions as being markedly different.

One person commented: "Have they seen Love Actually? The one-sided love was coming from someone with no partner and never intended to tell before getting caught."

Another remarked that his declaration was "probably just a fantasy version of her in his head to distract from the issues in his own relationship and responsibility of becoming a father."

Although some felt she was right to stay schtum, others felt she should have told her friend before the wedding, with a third person writing: "Nah that's savage that she let her marry him! I had to tell a girl that she was being cheated on and I didn't even know her. Not telling a friend is cruel."
