Kansas City Chiefs dealt another blow ahead of Super Bowl LVII vs Eagles
Super Bowl LVII is drawing closer which is perhaps frustrating news for the Kansas City Chiefs as they received a fresh headache - literally - amid Patrick Mahomes' injured ankle.
Both the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles once again held separate media sessions while practice intensified as big game fever is beginning to set in.
Arguably the most important and desired injury update ahead of Super Bowl Sunday came early on Wednesday. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid reiterated that star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is not feeling 100% but he provided reason for optimism by suggesting the 27-year-old - who is expected to win his second MVP on Thursday night - can do 'just about' everything in the playbook.
Reid also pointed out that the Chiefs ran a fast-paced, physical practice on Monday to start the week and Mahomes fared well. The quarterback addressed the issue himself, insisting he is continuing to rehabilitate the ankle while hoping the adrenaline of playing in the Super Bowl can get him through the game at his best come Sunday.
One interesting detail to keep tabs on: Chiefs defensive superstar Chris Jones revealed he was suffering with an illness. The 28-year-old - who has been in electric form this season - suggested he was congested with a sore throat, but insisted he will be fine. A number of Kansas City players appeared to also be under the weather.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni insisted his team are focused and fully locked in as they eye a second Super Bowl championship in franchise history and first since 2017. He spoke glowingly about Jalen Hurts and his leadership ability, given he has taken the Eagles to the brink of glory in just his third season in the NFL.

The Eagles had three players listed under 'limited participation' during their walkthrough on Wednesday: starting nickel cornerback Avonte Maddox, star offensive tackle Lane Johnson, and backup center Cam Jurgens. All three are expected to be ready to go on Sunday, although Johnson is set to have surgery on his groin injury once the season is over.
The Chiefs face the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on Sunday.
