CeeLo Green responds to backlash after falling off horse at lavish event
CeeLo Green has hit back at the criticism aimed towards him after the singer arrived at a lavish party on the back of a horse.
On Friday, the Gnarls Barkley frontman broke his silence after making the grand entrance to the party held on Wednesday in honour of the late Shawty Lo on what would have been his 47th birthday.
American rapper Shawty Lo died in September 2016 after a single-vehicle accident in Fulton County, Georgia. He and Green were close friends.
During the celebration party held in Atlanta, Green arrived in specular fashion as he entered the venue on horseback.

But the horse buckled which sent Green crashing to the ground (iamsharbates/Instagram)However, the animal got spooked by the flashing lights and loud noise coming from the guests while also struggling to stand on the floor tiles. As a result, the horse buckled and sent the singer crashing to the ground.

A statement from animal rights organisation PETA condemned Green's actions. It read: "It doesn’t take a genius to know that horses don’t belong at a noisy, crowded party, where slippery floors and strobe lights can agitate these vulnerable animals."
Green took to Instagram to explain his side of the story as he insisted he thought it would have been a "fun and funny" way to enter the party and had "no ill intent towards the animal".
Sharing a close-up photo of himself smiling, Green wrote: "Yoooo so listen, y’all know me the right? Y’all know I’m off the chain are you really that surprised? #lol about the other night…
"I felt like it could be fun and funny to make a grand entrance on this beautiful animal for a very special occasion in our city of #atlanta.
"A birthday party/ celebration of life for our deceased beloved Shawty Lo (FYI I love animals of all kinds, I actually live on a ranch), I was with friends and family who all know my sense of humor. That’s how I show #love.
