Love Island's Marcel Somerville urges fans to not speculate about pregnancies

Love Island alum Marcel Somerville has urged fans not to speculate about whether someone is pregnant, warning that you don't know what they may be going through privately.

The reality TV star, 37 - who had been a finalist on the ITV2 show back in 2017 - took to Instagram this morning to issue a message to his followers on the platform about such.

Marcel seemingly implied that him and his wife Rebecca Somerville, 27, had experienced pregnancy speculation recently whilst going through a miscarriage themselves.

The father-of-one's post warned that certain comments on social media can "hurt someone without intention" and they may "trigger some emotions" in such circumstances.

The podcast host - who shares son Roman, two, with his wife - included a comment, seemingly posted by a fan in response to a recent photo of Rebecca, in his post. The comment read: "Is there a baby in that tummy?"

Marcel's post read: "All right just a heads up people when posting these kind of comments on a picture, you should be more mindful as you don't know what the situation is.

"At the point of me taking that picture there was the tiny starts of baby but now there's not. So seeing your comment pop up with your assumption can trigger some emotions."

The post recent continued: "[The photo] wasn't an announcement it was just me paying homage to my Queen in a moment when she wasn't feeling great.

"You probably mean no hard but sometimes saying things without knowing the full context can hurt someone without intention #mindfulness".

Marcel added in his post: "It's not the first comment either. We get these comments all the time and it's not needed when two people are going through a miscarriage".

Rebecca - who married former islander Marcel last year - shared her husband's post on her account. She wrote: "It's all the time. Just stop please". She included a sad emoji.

In a follow-up post this evening, Marcel said: "Mama we've had a hard week but together we can come through every situation, even one as sad as we've experienced yesterday.

"I adore your strength and will always be by your side in those moments when things become a bit to hard to bare alone. I love you my queen. You and our bubba are everything."

The Mirror approached Marcel's reps for comment.
