If you're looking for a reliable spare controller, or need an additional gamepad for a second player then the Xbox Wireless Controller is a great option.

The iconic Xbox Wireless Controller has been a staple for Xbox users for years now. It's been the standard gamepad that comes in the box with your Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S consoles; and is the go-to option for many PC players including myself.

You can currently pick up the Xbox Wireless Controller for less than £40 thanks to a deal over at Amazon. It currently comes in at just £39.98 which is 27% less than its retail price of £54.99. If the carbon black edition of the controller just isn't your style, then you'll be glad to know that the robot white version is boasting the same price cut.

You get the benefits of both Xbox Wireless technology and Bluetooth with these controllers which make them compatible with the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows 10 and 11 PCs and mobile devices. So even if you don't have an Xbox, you can still take advantage of this deal if you're hoping to get your hands on a new controller.

  • Xbox Wireless Controller in Carbon Black – £39.98 at Amazon
  • Xbox Wireless Controller in Robot White – £39.98 at Amazon

This deal comes from Amazon so you're able to take advantage of Amazon Prime shipping. There are multiple colour options here, many of which are seeing price cuts, however only the black and white editions have come down to this price point.

Do I really need another controller?

In simple terms, having an extra controller couldn't hurt especially with multiplayer games like Diablo 4 hitting the scene (this is the last weekend that the open beta is running so be sure to make the most of your time). Having an extra controller will also allow you to play split-screen on many multiplayer games instead of having your second player sign in and play on another device.

Another reason to get your hands on a second controller is due to the countless issues controllers in general face, whether it's running out of battery in the middle of your play sesh, or facing stick drift after a while, having a backup to hand is useful. Getting it for less than £40 is a no-brainer. Nothing is worse than your controller disconnecting in the middle of an intense build-off in your rank-up match in Fortnite arena mode, take it from me (I'm totally not salty).
