Passenger stabs another to death on bus as victim begs driver to let him off

A man was stabbed 33 times allegedly by another passenger while on a bus, as he pleaded with the driver to stop and let him off.

Aaron Cole, 59, and Dominique Lucas, 30, were both riding on an RTC bus in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 26, when they began to argue.

Footage from inside the bus captured their altercation and the disturbing scene of the attack.

“I wasn’t bothering you,” Lucas is heard saying on the video. Several seconds later, Cole lunges at Lucas, and a physical altercation begins.

“Let me off,” Lucas says in the video as he runs toward the front of the bus.

Cole can then be seen on the video allegedly stabbing Lucas multiple times on the floor near the bus’s front entrance before Cole sits back down in his seat.

The driver opened the front door during the attack and then closed it as Cole continued to stab Lucas, while other passengers watched, 8NewsNow reported.

Lucas then stands up and pleads to the bus driver for help. For about 2 minutes, he stumbled around the front area of the bus as it continued its route.

The bus driver activated a panic button and talked to a dispatcher. A whole two minutes after the attack, Cole can be seen getting up and stabbing Lucas several more times.

Eventually, the bus stopped near an intersection and the driver got off. Lucas also crawled off the bus and onto the pavement, and a bypasser placed a towel on his chest before the police arrived.

Lucas succumbed to his injuries at the hospital shortly after the attack, and the Clark County coroner’s office confirmed he had been stabbed 33 times.

The video was shown to a grand jury, and a juror asked the driver, who testified: "Is it protocol in regard to helping someone out when they get stabbed or injured?"

“For the driver to help?” the driver responded. “Yes,” the juror said. “Physically?” the driver asked. “Yes, for the driver to help physically,” the juror said.

The driver replied: “Not that I know of. I mean, the first priority is your own safety, so I’ve got to make sure I’m safe enough to operate that bus for the other passengers also.”

Cole was arrested again ten days before the incident, for assault with a deadly weapon and carrying concealed weapons on a bus.

He was released on his own recognizance with orders not to contact the victim.

Cole is in custody and awaiting trial, while the bus driver remains employed.
