Tom Brady accused of 'fabricating' comments over Patriots coach Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick was a surprise guest on Tom Brady's "Let's Go!" podcast on Monday night, and the recently-retired quarterback has been accused of 'fabricating' comments about the New England Patriots head coach.

Brady announced his retirement earlier this month, putting an end to speculation that he could link-up with Belichick one final time at the Patriots. Brady left the franchise in 2020 to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and there was reportedly tension between him and Belichick at the time.

The pair won six Super Bowls together and were incredibly successful, but the relationship broke down and ultimately led to their split. But Brady has since gone out of his way to ensure there was no bad blood between the two, something that NBS's Phil Perry is not buying.

It was a huge statement when Brady and the Patriots parted ways, and while the quarterback remained close with franchise owner Robert Kraft, it seemed like the tension with Belichick remained. It was reported at the time that Belichick wasn't confident in Brady as he aged, something that made his quarterback feel unappreciated.

Brady left for the Buccaneers and proved his worth, winning another Super Bowl title with his new franchise. The respect between the pair has always remained, and the hatchet has been buried following their emotional podcast on Monday.

But Perry has accused Brady of going back on his initial views now that he's retired, in an attempt to remove any grudges as he departs the NFL. "This is Brady in retirement, this is 'don't hold a grudge' Tom Brady, I think there is a part of Tom Brady that craves that," Perry said.

"This is also somebody who, when he hears criticism, tends to ratchet up his performance which is why he may succeed in that next role. As far as a podcast is concerned, I think that's what this is.

"But he intentionally omitting or misremembering or fabricating what he is on the record having stated. His dad has said things in the past, we've heard from ownership about the tension that existed there and their relationship in New England.

"Brady himself, on a Tom Brady produced documentary, sat there emotional on the coach wondering why we do this, why we do it all. His wife at the time is even on there saying he doesn't feel appreciated.

"Who is she talking about there? I think it comes down to the coach and maybe the ownership too. To look back at that time and say there was never anything intolerable... it got intolerable to the point that he left."

Brady can now look back on his career with fond memories, and he and Belichick will always be remembered as one of the most successful coach-player partnerships in the history of the league. However, historic moments can never be forgotten, especially in this day and age.
