Celebrate the fifth anniversary of Rare’s pirate simulator in style, by posing for a photo next to the Golden Sands picture wall for a limited time.

Sea of Thieves is right up there with No Man’s Sky in terms of the very best comeback stories for a live-service game. What was at first a rather barren and repetitive first-person adventure amidst the high seas has gone on to build up a strong player base - not least due to its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass. To say thank you for their support over the past five years, developer Rare has introduced a picture wall within New Golden Sands Outpost.

A picture wall, you say? Indeed. Located in New Golden Sands Outpost (formerly just Golden Sands Outpost), for a limited time players on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One can stand up against it as a crew and pose to take screenshots. But if you want to know where it specifically is, we’ve put together this simple guide so you can make use of the picture wall before it leaves the game next week.

Sea of Thieves: where to find the New Golden Sands picture wall

The newly rebuilt New Golden Sands Outpost is easily found for returning players because it’s exactly where it was before. But if you’re new to the game, simply head to the Shores of Plenty region of the in-game map and head to coordinate D-10.

Upon arriving at New Golden Sands you’ll want to set eyes on the outpost’s lighthouse. Head over towards it. When looking directly in front of the lighthouse, with the coastline behind it, on the left side you should see an upright wooden board draped in vine leaves with red bunting stretched across the top of it. This is the picture wall you seek.

As well as a great way of commemorating the Xbox exclusive’s fifth anniversary, the New Golden Sands picture wall serves as the cherry on top of the outpost’s latest look. Previously little more than a collection of barren islands, New Golden Sands now stands proud as a worthwhile trading outpost since the Sea of Thieves 2.5.3 update arrived during the middle of last year – and continued construction suggests that there’s more on the way.

Sea of Thieves: how long will the New Golden Sands picture wall be there for?

Developer Rare not only announced the New Golden Sands picture wall’s arrival on Twitter, but let budding sea-farers know how long it will be sticking around too. It went live yesterday and will remain in place for a week, with the picture wall expected to leave on Monday, March 27. No exact time of day was given.

If you can gather up your crew and pose in front of the New Golden Sands picture wall before it disappears, there's a chance it might share player screenshots over on the official @SeaOfThieves Twitter account if they're particularly eye-catching. What better way is there to celebrate the game’s fifth anniversary in style with the rest of the community? Travel to New Golden Sands, load up those emotes, and get posing.
