Netflix cancels children's series after nasty backlash over non-binary character
Netflix has cancelled a children's TV show after five series following backlash over a non-binary character.
Ridley Jones has been "quietly dumped" by the streaming platform, according to its creator Chris Nee.
The animated series first aired in 2021 on the site and follows curious Ridley and her friends as they protect the Museum of Natural History's treasures.
Yet, Chris Nee took to Twitter to share the series has been "cancelled" by Netflix.
Chris claims the streaming site put out the fifth and final series with "no promotion".

Ridley Jones recently faces backlash for featuring a non-binary character.
In the eighth episode of series five, a bison named Fred comes out as non-binary to their grandmother.
Clips of the show spread online, with some bizarrely complaining that the show was spreading a "woke" agenda.
The series has previously been nominated for several awards including Children's & Family Emmy Awards, GLAAD Media Awards and Kidscreen Awards.
It also won Best Animation and Best Voice Talent at the Kidscreen Awards in 2022, as well as a Narrative & Animated TV award from ReFrame.
Chris is best known for being the creator of Disney's television series Doc McStuffins.
In a press release ahead of Ridley Jones' launch, Chris said: "This is the first show I brought to Netflix. I really wanted to do a series where a girl was the action-adventure star I always wanted to see (or be) when I was growing up.
"Like so many of my shows, this world is a perfect canvas upon which to create a community of oddball characters and model what it means to take care of each other, even if you aren't from the same era of time or wing of the museum.
