Kidnapped woman escapes after being locked for two months in a closet

A woman has managed to escape her captor after two months locked in a closet.

Police were called to the scene in Dyersburg, Tennessee, US, after a man working in the area had been approached by a woman who claimed she had been kidnapped.

Officers arrived to find the 40-year-old victim hiding under a building site.

She had facial cuts and was "reported to be very thin, weighing under 100 pounds", police have said.

She reported that for two months she was forced to stay in a locked closet and was only allowed out for an hour a day.

She was given very little food and wasn't allowed to use the bathroom.

Working with the victim, detectives found the vacant house where she had been held with evidence of human waste found.

A suspect, Brenton Bell, 30, of Dyersburg, was identified after the victim revealed the two of them were in a relationship which allegedly became abusive and led to her being held captive.

Bell is wanted for aggravated kidnapping but police haven't been able to arrest him yet.

Police description of him is "a black male, 30 years of age, approximately 5ft 5ins, weighing 150lbs."

Police have urged anyone with information about him to come forward.

A police statement read: "Anyone with information as to where Bell may be located is urged to call the Dyersburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 288-7679, or Crime Stoppers at 285-TIPS."

The woman was treated at the hospital but later released. Police said she has been provided with additional domestic violence services.

This comes after a missing 13-year-old girl was found locked in a man's shed 1,000 miles.

Jorge Ivan Santos Camacho, 34, has been arrested and faces a number of charges after the girl was discovered inside the shed with nothing but a TV, a mattress, a jar of peanut butter, and a bottle of salad dressing.

The girl’s mother discovered the suspect had been communicating with the girl for months while playing online video games and chatting on Discord.
