The suspect in the shocking murders of the University of Idaho students has "found religion" in jail and attends mass regularly, it has emerged.

Bryan Kohberger, a former graduate student of Washington State University in neighbouring Pullman, Washington, is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and burglary in connection with the killings.

The victims were Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves, both 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20.

Sources from within the prison have said that he is obsessed with following his own case from behind bars and that he likes to watch news coverage of his case on TV.

Inmates have also commented that Kohberger has a cold demeanour and rarely interacts with other prisoners.

Kohberger has reportedly found religion and attends mass every Sunday with a local pastor.

Despite being taunted by other inmates, Kohberger has remained a model prisoner according to a jail official.

Inmates also discuss Kohberger and his case regularly and express strong negative feelings towards him.

He spends most of his time alone in a private cell, apart from other inmates who share cells, jail sources told dailymail.com.

Despite facing taunts from other inmates who sometimes shout at him as he shuffles past their cells, Kohberger has remained a model prisoner, according to a jail official.

The source said: "When one inmate named Tyson hollered 'bit**!' at the accused murderer during a recent weekday, Kohberger barely flinched, turning toward him with a menacing stare without breaking stride as he proceeded down the hall."

Kohberger is said to attend mass every Sunday with a local pastor and has reportedly found religion since his incarceration.

He receives his own private mass with the pastor, where it's just the two of them, according to the sources.

They also noted that Kohberger's strict vegan dietary needs are being met by the vendor that prepares meals for prisoners.

Inmates at the jail follow Kohberger's case intently on the news and discuss their infamous fellow inmate daily.

They expressed strong negative feelings towards him, and one inmate stated that he hopes Kohberger gets the death penalty.

Kohberger rarely speaks to other inmates, and when he does, he maintains a steely stare.

He is always flanked by several correction officers who escort him wherever he goes, and he rarely if ever chats with jail mates, they said.

Despite the cold and disgusting conditions of the jail, Kohberger has reportedly been well-behaved during his time there, with no incidents.

Inmates have expressed shock and disbelief that one of the most infamous (alleged) mass murderers in the United States is being held in their jail.
