Michael B Jordan responded to Black Panther co-star Angela Bassett's Oscars snub with a touching gesture on stage.

The 64-year-old Wakanda Forever actress lost out to Jamie Lee Curtis for the best supporting actress gong at the 95th Academy Awards last night.

Taking to the stage with Jonathan Majors to present the award for best cinematography, the Killmonger actor began by saying: "Hey auntie."

"We love you," Majors added.

It was Basset's second Oscar nomination last night, but if she had won for her role as Queen Ramonda it would have been the first Academy Award for an acting role in a Marvel film.

Bassett appeared crestfallen after losing out on the Oscar to Jamie Lee Curtis, who bagged her first Academy Award for Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Fans took to social media to share their heartbreak that Bassett had missed out, with one writing: "Everybody talking about Angela Bassett reaction saying she’s a sore loser…how about y’all put in hard work and oscar worthy performances for 30+ years just to barely get any recognition and when you do get recognized you get snubbed, her reaction was REAL and RAW."

While another commented: "Yeah had to turn off the Oscars after they didn’t give Angela Bassett the award."

A third wrote: "Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Jamie Lee Curtis but her role in EEAAO was not even the best supporting actress performance in that movie. Angela Bassett stayed seated when she was announced as she should’ve. A queen never stands for an institution that refuses to honor her."

Among the winners last night was Brendan Fraser, who was overwhelmed as he beat the likes of Austin Butler and Colin Farrell to take home the award for best actor for his role in The Whate.

It comes after the 54 year old was blacklisted in Hollywood for several years after speaking out about sexual assault.

“So this is what the multiverse looks like,” he said, accepting the award.

“I thank the academy for this honour…Darren Aronofsky for throwing me a creative lifeline and hauling me aboard the good ship The Whale.

Addressing his fellow best actor nominees, he continued: “You laid your whale-sized hearts bare…and it is my honour to be named alongside you in this category.”
