Prince Harry's infamous Nazi uniform controversy will be recreated in the next series of Netflix's The Crown.

The Duke of Sussex once dressed in a "native and colonial" themed party as a member of Erwin Rommel's Afrika Korps troops.

The 2005 incident saw Harry splashed across the front page of The Sun wearing a swastika symbol on his arm and the Royal Family was forced to apologise on his behalf.

An insider told the newspaper: “It is one of the most shameful incidents in Harry’s life and one that he finally addressed in December.

“Older generations will remember The Sun’s ‘Harry The Nazi’ story and photo but this past episode in Harry’s life may come as news to Netflix’s many younger viewers.

“In more recent times, Harry has made claims about racism in the UK and unconscious bias in the Royal Family on Netflix. It is kind of ironic that Netflix is the one to bring up this incident.”

In the third episode of the explosive docuseries Harry & Meghan, which aired on Netflix last year, Harry said the outfit was "probably one of the biggest mistakes of my life."

He said: "I felt so ashamed afterwards. All I wanted to do was make it right."

The Duke of Sussex said he spoke to a chief rabbi and Holocaust survivor at the time to learn from his mistake.

At the time, Harry said he learned his lesson and stated: "I've learnt my lesson. I'm very sorry if I offended anybody. I'd like to put it in the past now. What's done is done. I regret it."

The regretful prince added: "Maybe it was a sign of my own immaturity. Something like that I will never do again. It was a stupid thing to do."

However, in his recently published and controversial memoir 'Spare', Harry said he sought for William and Kate's advice on choosing between two outfits - a pilot's costume or the Nazi uniform.

He claimed they "both howled" when he asked the what he thought. Kensington Palace did not comment on Harry's Spare allegations.

Harry is played by Luther Ford in the sixth season of The Crown and brother Prince William by Ed McVey.

In the docuseries, Harry discussed what he sees as "unconscious bias" within The Firm.

The episode also touched on the moment when Princess Michael of Kent wore a Blackamoor-style brooch to an event Harry's wife Meghan Markle attended in 2017

The Duke added: "In this family, sometimes you are part of the problem rather than part of the solution. There is a huge level of unconscious bias.

“The thing with unconscious bias, it is actually no one’s fault. But once it has been pointed out, or identified within yourself you then need to make it right.!
