Sex Pistols star rules out Sid Vicious hologram amid ABBA success with 3D format
Holograms won’t be replacing the Sex Pistols.
Glen Matlock, the band’s bassist, has ruled out the idea of the band returning in virtual shows like ABBA – insisting that nothing can replicate a proper, sweaty, live gig.
Just like the Sex Pistols’ first gig at the 100 Club in Central London, where Glen returned this week.
He says: “There’s nothing better than a band playing with passion, vim and vigour in front of a live audience – in tune, with a couple of beers inside them, or a coffee, going for it.”
Not to mention the difficulty of producing a hologram of the late Sid Vicious. Glen says: “If they can dig up some 3D imagery of Sid at this stage, that would be an achievement in itself.”

It comes amid reports that David Bowie could be the next star to go down the ABBA-tar route. Glen appeared in the flesh at the 100 Club along with Blondie drummer Clem Burke to celebrate the upcoming Dog Day Afternoon event on July 1 at Crystal Palace in South East London.
Iggy Pop is headlining alongside Blondie and Generation Sex – Generation X’s Billy Idol and Tony James, plus Steve Jones and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols.
So it has all the hallmarks of a proper live gig.
