Lewis Hamilton laughs before brutally honest take on David Croft and Ted Kravitz

Lewis Hamilton and Simon Lazenby cackled as the seven-time Formula 1 champion admitted that he didn't even know Ted Kravitz had his own show on TV.

Ahead of the new season, the British racer took part in a lie detector test with UK broadcaster Sky Sports. He was hooked up to a polygraph machine while presenter Lazenby grilled him with a series of questions – some more serious than others.

Among the more jovial parts of the interview came when Lazenby took the opportunity to ask Hamilton about a few of his Sky colleagues. First in the firing line was David Croft, the lead commentator who has become the voice of live F1 action in the broadcaster's coverage.

Asked if he knew who 'Crofty' is, Hamilton immediately answered: "Yes". But when he was then asked: "Do you think he's the best sports commentator on television?" the Mercedes racer couldn't help but laugh before truthfully responding: "No."

Lazenby laughed himself at that response, and he also enjoyed what happened next. Pit lane reporter Kravitz was the next in the firing line, as Hamilton was asked if he was a viewer of the popular post-session Ted's Notebook programme.

His response was: "What is it? What's that? Ted Kravitz? I don't even know what that is, so no." Lazenby was delighted with that answer as he declared: "That's even better!"

Some tougher questions were asked of the racer, including whether or not Fernando Alonso was his favourite team-mate in F1. He truthfully replied: "No," before choosing Valtteri Bottas as the driver he most enjoyed working with.

Asked why, Hamilton said of his former Mercedes team-mate: "It was just fun. We have a lot of fun over the years and there was just a real camaraderie there.

"Even though he wanted to beat me, there was a respect that we always had. There were never any games between us. It was just straight on. We travelled together and we just build a really good friendship."
