Their victory was marred by the controversial brawl that broke out earlier. A statement from the Welsh Rugby Union condemned the violence, and revealed the clash was under investigation.

A statement read: "The WRU, in line with its disciplinary regulations, is investigating apparent code of conduct breaches which occurred at a second team fixture this weekend featuring Nelson and Beddau rugby clubs."

The clash between the two teams took place at Nelson RFC's home 'The Parc', and was an arranged friendly between the two teams away from competitive league action. Both Beddau and Nelson currently compete in the WRU Admiral National League.
