Prime Gaming February: take a break from Dead Space with this sci-fi selection
Amazon's Prime Gaming service free games lineup for February, available this week, is the perfect antidote to the tension of Dead Space.
Prime Gaming is offering nine free titles to members from Thursday, February 2., with new games added to the lineup every week. And this month's smorgasbord is the perfect antidote to the inevitable PTSD caused by spending 12 hours battling Necromorphs in the Dead Space remake.
If you need a break from the USG Ishimura, Space Crew: Legendary Edition may be the game for you. Coming to Prime Gaming on February 23, you're the captain of a legally distinct United Defense Force starship. It’s your job to recruit and train a crew, customise the ship and boldly go where a crew that looks a lot like this one has gone before, on their continuing mission to defend the Earth from the mysterious extraterrestrial threat known as the Phasmids.
If, like me, you have ever wondered what they did with all the spare parts and insides left over from a game like Dead Space, you should give Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator a whirl. Also hitting the service on February 23, this body horror sci-fi management sim sees you enter the cut-throat universe of alien organ trading. Surely someone in the galaxy can find a use for all those severed limbs, right?
Although for most of you, Thursday, February 2 is the day you’ll want to mark on your calendars as the month's Prime Gaming freebies kick off with The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind GOTY Edition. Skyrim players who were too young to catch it the first time around should give it a whirl.
Prime Gaming March 2023: you'll never guess what you play as in I Am FishSelection box
If you're looking for more inner peace than sci-fi scares, aIso up on Prime Gaming on February 2 is Onsen Master. A delightful single-player game that lets you take on the role of an attendant in a traditional Japanese Onsen. Think Spirited Away meets Overcooked and you won’t go far wrong. In Onsen Master, you have to use your customer relations skills to keep the spirits that frequent a mystical bathhouse happy.
The following Thursday, February 9, will be treated to 3D runner, Aerial Knight's Never Yield which sees players fight to survive in dystopian Detroit, as well as third-person platform fighter Divine Knockout. The godly brawler puts you in the role of a small and mighty god fighting other small gods for supremacy by knocking each other off platforms Smash Bros Style.
February 16 brings One Hand Clapping to Prime Gaming. No doubt inspired by the Buddist Koan or a brilliant joke on The Simpsons, this experimental puzzle platformer controlled with a microphone lets players use the power of their voice to change the world. Meanwhile, BATS: Bloodsucker Anti-Terror Squad, a gruesome 2D brawler that pushes the idea of an homage to breaking-point also hits the service on the same day.
Finally, coming to Prime Gaming on February 23 is Tunche. This charming hand-drawn action game with roguelike elements has you play as one of five unique characters that battle to restore peace in the Amazon rainforest in both solo and cooperative play.
