Police have sadly announced a 34-year-old man has died following an incident at a recycling centre.

Officers were called to a recycling centre in Neath, South Wales, on the morning of Tuesday, January 24.

The man, from Swansea, was declared dead at the scene.

An investigation is now underway and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have been informed, police said, after officers were called to Fenestration Recycling Company Ltd in Neath Abbey.

South Wales Police Detective Inspector Carl Price said: "Police and other emergency service colleagues were called to Fenestration Recycling Company Ltd in Neath Abbey on Tuesday morning, January 24, following a report of an incident at the site.

"A 34-year-old man from Swansea was declared deceased at the scene.

"The Health and Safety Executive have been informed and an investigation has begun.

"Our thoughts remain with the man’s family, friends and colleagues."

Fenestration Recycling Company Ltd is where window companies can dispose of UPVC window frames and glass.

Materials are then recycled on-site.

The company said they "turn waste UPVS windows into clean UPVS granules" and "recycle UPVC window frames."

HSE is a government agency responsible for the regulation and enforcement of health and safety in the workplace.

It comes under the umbrella of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) headed up by Mel Stride MP.
