A single dad was left overwhelmed by a stranger’s kindness when he was paying for his shopping and realised he had left his wallet at home.

Roy Hilton Jones had been shopping at his local Aldi when he realised at the last moment he was unable to pay for his goods.

Admitting his error, he told the cashier he would be back momentarily, wallet in his hand.

But before he and his son had left the car park a worker had ran to catch them up to tell them a kind stranger had paid for their shopping, reports North Wales Live.

Roy, from Wrexham, northwest Wales, said: “I'm a single dad so generosity off someone in these pressing financial times is especially grateful.

“I'd gone with my daughter to Aldi just to pick up some snacks, bits and stuff for her school meals. I got to the checkout and realised I'd forgotten my wallet, so I said to my daughter we'll have to see if we can leave all this stuff by the till and pop home quickly.

“The lad behind me said 'oh I'll pay' but I said ‘Honestly it's all right. I only live five minutes around the corner, so thank you very much but it's okay’.

“So we put the stuff through the till and the lady on the checkout said we'll leave it here for when you get back. I went outside and got in the car, and as soon as I was about to set off the lady from the till came running out the store arms waving.

“I drove over to her and she said ‘someone has paid for your groceries’.

“The next moment the lad came out holding my groceries and passed them over to me.”

When overwhelmed Rot offered to pay him back the lad declined and instead told him to pass on the favour to someone else.

He added: “It turns out the lad is from the same village and he ended up messaging me. I said I was overwhelmed and what a lovely thing that was to do.

"I was watching the news this morning and they're going on about some doomsday thing going on, the world's supposed to end or there's going to be another disaster some time soon.

“That's why I put this story out there, positivity is important. It's a nice thing for someone to do.”
