The View panellists were left red-faced during their latest show when a loud fart noise disrupted their live broadcast.

The noisy interruption happened in the middle of Wednesday's episode, with the programme thrown into further chaos when host Whoopi Goldberg spilled a drink all over her co-star.

The presenters had been discussing the classified documents which were found inside the home of former Vice President Mike Pence.

Sunny Hostin posed a question to her fellow panellists, asking if it was "true that Trump had nuclear secrets," but Whoopi and Sara Haines were clearly distracted.

Whoopi, 67, pointed to a puddle of water on Sara's desk, prompting the 45-year-old to quickly jump up from her seat.

A very loud fart noise followed, with Alyssa Farah Griffin left awkwardly laughing and attempting to carry on the discussion.

"Whoopi!" Sarah exclaimed as she tried to clean up the spillage on her desk.

She added: "Whoopi spilled water and now it's on my pants."

Alyssa awkwardly laughed and said: "Oh. We had a little spillage on the other side of the table."

As Alyssa finally finished her point, the camera panned to show Whoopi and Sara still trying to clean up the spillage with napkins.

This is the latest in a series of chaotic mishaps on The View and it isn't the first time Whoopi has been linked to a farting noise on the programme.

Back in 2014, the actress was accused of passing wind on the show, with fans later dubbing the incident 'fart-gate'.

She had been discussing flub jabs during a Hot Topic debate with singer Ashanti when she shifted awkwardly in her seat while her co-star Rosie O’Donnell started fanning the air.

The other hosts joined in, picking up their topic cards and waving them up and down.

Whoopi insisted she hadn't farted and said the panellists were making a joke to try and cover up an unexplained sound effect.

Speaking on the show the next day, she said: "There was a sound effect that we had never heard before.

"I'm thinking, 'Damn, that's weird, what can I do? Oh, I know! I'm gonna pretend I let a little something go. As a joke'.

"Now, these folks are emailing people, running up on people saying, 'How do you feel about the fart that Whoopi did on The View?' It's a joke!"

Whoopi added: "I know you think that I don't [make jokes] anymore, I do, I make funnies. I don't fart on air for real!

"So everybody relax, I didn't fart on air, it was a joke."
