LeBron James arrives for Lakers game in leaked special edition Liverpool shirt
Liverpool fans are desperate to get their hands on their new kit, after it was essentially confirmed by LeBron James on Wednesday night.
A new shirt in association with James was leaked on social media recently, but although it looked legitimate and even had a tag, Liverpool fans weren't sure if it would ever make it to market. But James arrived ready for the Los Angeles Lakers game wearing the shirt, teasing the new item.
James is an investor of Liverpool through Fenway Sports Group, and it's not uncommon so see him strutting around in their merchandise. Now it looks as though they've officially collaborated, and the shirt is expected to be released.
The shirt was doubted due to its striped features and unknown logo in the middle. But due to it being a collaborative shirt, changes had to be made, and James has all but confirmed that the shirt is ready to go.
As soon as Liverpool switched to kit provider Nike, there was always a possibility for James to finally release something alongside his team. And he certainly advertised it well as he arrived to face the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
Klopp's dream Liverpool line up as last-gasp January transfers rejectedJames was a key part of Liverpool's decision to step away from working with New Balance, and their long-term goal was to partner with Nike in order to allow cross-Atlantic deals to take place. It's the first we've seen of this kind, but if successful, it could start a new trend.
The Lakers got back to winning ways on Wednesday after suffering recent disappointment, as they beat the Spurs 113-104. James scored 20 points on the night, and new signing Rui Hachimura got off the mark with 12 points and six rebounds.
James and his Lakers side lost 133-115 to rivals Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night, even though the four-time MVP dropped 46 points. James was clearly frustrated after the game, but was in high spirits ahead of facing the Spurs.
That may have been because Anthony Davis returned from injury, and James has been missing his partner out on the court. James has essentially been carrying the Lakers in his absence, and he'll be hoping Davis can finally stay fit.
Davis dropped 21 points after coming off the Lakers bench, also clocking up 12 rebounds in just 22 minutes. The Lakers are now 23-26, and are setting their sights on a positive record.
