'My daughter mocked our son online so we cancelled her birthday party'
A mum has decided to cancel her daughter's birthday party after she mocked gifts that her brother had brought back from India on Instagram.
The sister - who the mum admits is 'friends with some popular mean girls' - had joined in with the group to mock her brother's kindhearted presents.
The boy had brought some handmade dolls back for his family - but it seems his sister and her friends weren't impressed.
And after learning about the social media post from his sister, the parents decided to take drastic action to protect their 13-year-old son.
But after cancelling the party - the mum was astounded to hear from her parents that she went too far and sought advice on how to handle the situation online.

The boy was left upset by what his sister did and is now not talking to her (stock photo) (Getty Images)Taking to Reddit, the mum, who remained anonymous, explained that she first heard from her sister about the Instagram story where the girl and her friends had labelled the dolls 'ugly'.
In the post, the frustrated mum wrote: "Our daughter is friends with some popular mean girls. We are working on things like therapy and consequences.
"Unfortunately, her latest behaviour was the worst yet. Our son met a girl on a cruise we went on in April of last year, the girl lives about 40 minutes away, so they don’t go to the same school. My son and the girl hung out together the whole cruise and started dating soon after."
Recently her teenage son took a trip with his Indian girlfriend and her family to India and returned with some gifts for his family.
"He had bought handmade dolls for my niece, my sister lives about five minutes away, my son sometimes babysits for my sister," she explained.
But issues arose when the extended family came over to collect their gifts from the teenage boy.
The mum added: "My daughter had her friends over, while he was presenting the gifts, our daughter and her friends were in the living room with us, we could hear laughing when he presented the dolls and a few of the girls had their phones out.
"At the time, my husband and I thought nothing of it, we thought they were on TikTok.
"The next day, I got a phone call from my sister saying that her daughter was asking her if the dolls were ugly, and she said my daughter said something about it.
"We immediately went to her room, asked her what happened, she giggled and refused to answer, when we asked for her phone, she refused, so we shut the Wi-Fi off until she gave in. She and her friends had posted an Instagram story making fun of the dolls."

The parents then decided that due to the recent mean streak they would cancel her upcoming birthday party but now the mum is nervous she is being unreasonable and over reacting - but her brother was left fuming and is now refusing to talk with his sister.
In response, many people have supported the mum and said the daughter should be learning these lessons.
One person wrote: "Punish her for what she did, limit her ability to hurt other people online, and help her find better friends."
While another stated: "A party is a luxury that she doesn't need right now. And that's not to say her birthday shouldn't be acknowledged at all, but I don't think she's deserving of a party right now."
