Man arrested after 18-year-old woman allegedly raped inside Merseyside restaurant
A man has been arrested after an 18-year-old woman was allegedly raped in a restaurant.
Police were called to the scene in Clubmoor, Merseyside, on Saturday after receiving reports that a woman was in distress.
Before cops arrived at the scene the woman had left the restaurant and was on nearby Queens Drive.
She asked for help from locals and reported that she had been raped.
The woman told officers what had happened when they arrived and said it had occurred in a restaurant.
An investigation was launched into the incident.
A 51-year-old man from West Derby, Liverpool was subsequently arrested on suspicion of rape.
He was taken into custody for questioning and has since been bailed conditionally as a probe into the incident continues.
The victim is being supported by specialist officers.
