Nine-year-old girl dies after suspicious incident at Scottish campsite as man arrested
Five people, including a nine-year-old girl who later died, were taken to hospital following an incident in Arbroath, it has emerged.
Officers were called to the town’s Elliot Industrial Estate shortly after midnight on Sunday.
The girl, who was from West Yorkshire, and three family members were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
A 35-year-old man, who was known to the girl, was taken to hospital separately but later released into police custody and has been arrested in connection with the death.
Police said the girl’s death was being treated as suspicious and her family members, who were camping in the area, were being supported by specialist officers.
It is understood that no-one else was injured.
Police Scotland said officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with the girl’s death.
