Three others taken to hospital after girl, 9, dies at Scottish industrial estate

Three other people were rushed to hospital alongside a tragic nine-year-old girl found fatally injured at a Scottish industrial estate, it has been revealed.

The tragic schoolgirl and three other casualties were found injured after ‘camping’ at Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath at around midnight on Monday.

The young girl died in hospital, while the conditions and ages of the three other patients remain unknown.

Cops have since launched a probe and are treating the youngster’s death as “suspicious”.

We told how the girl’s dad, 35, was arrested over her alleged killing on a family camping holiday.

The family, from West Yorkshire, had pitched up for the night on the deserted estate alongside another child.

Just hours before the tragedy, one eyewitness said he drove past at 6pm and saw the family had set up a tent alongside their car.

The blue electric Peugeot had foil covering the inside of the windscreen.

The local said: “It was a two-man, pop-up tent that you’d get in a supermarket.

“It wasn’t a substantial camping tent.

“The parents looked like they were cooking food on an outdoor camping stove.

“I thought it was pretty strange given there’s a beach two minutes away and that’s a lot more picturesque.”

Emergency services flooded the scene at Elliot Industrial Estate after the alarm was raised at 11.53pm on Sunday.

Four ambulance response vehicles were deployed to help.

Police Scotland confirmed the death was being treated as suspicious and they are not looking for anyone else.

A police presence will remain in the area as the extensive investigation continues.

A Scottish Ambulance spokesperson said: “We received a call at 23:53 on Sunday 2 August to attend an incident at Elliot Industrial Estate, Arbroath.

“We dispatched four ambulance response vehicles to the scene and we transported four patients to Ninewells Hospital.”

Detective Inspector Mike Ness of the Major Investigation Team said: “Our thoughts remain with those affected by these events.

“Members of the public will see an increased police presence and activity in the area as enquiries continue.

“This is intended to reassure the public and anyone who may have information should approach these officers or contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0008 of Monday, 3 August 2026.”
