UK police renew appeal to find prison absconder believed to frequent Ireland

A prison absconder known to frequent the Republic of Ireland is being sought by police in the UK.

Thames Valley Police has renewed its appeal for information on the whereabouts of Jason McDonagh, 34, who absconded from HMP Springhill on June 23 last year.

McDonagh was previously named alongside two other absconders, Daniel Hardy and Barney Casey, both aged 24, but they have since been located and returned to prison.

Police say McDonagh remains outstanding.

He is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build, with ginger hair and facial hair. When he was last seen, he was wearing grey tracksuit trousers and a white vest.

Police have said McDonagh is known to frequent several areas including Bristol, the West Midlands, Leicestershire, Leeds, Bradford, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Police Staff Investigator Claire Busby urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.

"We are appealing to the public for any information around McDonagh’s whereabouts, or anyone who may see him to get in touch," she said.

"We would advise members of the public not to approach him, but call 999 instead.

"If you have any information as to where he may be, call 101 or make a report online, quoting 43250312586."
