Love Island's Iain Stirling gushes over 'dream job' he landed after CBBC gig
Iain Stirling has heaped praise on his Love Island role as he opens up on how he got the job in the first place.
The Scottish presenter, 34, has been narrating the popular dating show since 2015 and has become synonymous with the role as fans continue to enjoy his witty one liners.
There were fears he might quit the show following his wife Laura Whitmore's exit after last year's summer series. But he has labelled the gig his "dream job," indicating he's in no mood to relinquish it just yet.
He admits he's now known for his "Love Island" accent, which he says isn't "necessarily Scottish" on the show.

Iain's chat features in this week's Radio TimesSpeaking to Radio Times, the presenter gushed: "It’s the dream job for me, because I get the excitement of being involved in a show like Love Island, but can go to the supermarket and not be recognised – as long as I don’t say anything."

However, he did say that those who do recognise him often mock his opening monologue for the show before quickly scarpering.
Discussing how he landed the role initially, he thanked his role on CBBC, which he held between 2009 and 2013.

That was sent to ITV and they then got me to do Love Island. I think it really was as simple as they didn’t want a London RP accent."
He also claimed the channel's top bosses weren't keen to imitate the Geordie accent heard on Big Brother, so decided they would opt for either Irish or Scottish.
Iain has continued his success since becoming the voice of the show, hosting series such as CelebAbility and also writing a sitcom called Buffering, which is loosely based on his time as a children’s TV presenter a decade ago.

Jenny Groom, the NBC executive responsible for unscripted entertainment, said at the time: "The moment the decision was made to bring an all-new version of Love Island to Peacock, we knew we had to get Iain on board.
"Iain embodies everything fans love about the show – humour, irreverence and cheeky fun. Love Island would not be the same without him."
