A Liberal Democrat MP has been suspended from the party after he was arrested.

Cameron Thomas was arrested by Gloucestershire Police on Wednesday night, it is understood.

A party spokesperson says: ‘Cameron Thomas MP has had the party whip suspended pending the outcome of a police investigation.

‘We are unable to comment further while the police investigation is ongoing.’

The MP for Tewkesbury started his career in politics after ending a 23-year career in the Royal Air Force, during which he was deployed to Iraq, the Falklands, and Oman.

He has previously criticized Elon Musk, claiming the billionaire’s interest in the Southport riots was based on Musk’s ’nostalgia for white supremacy.’

Mr. Thomas traveled to Kyiv in March to deliver aid and was named on a Russian stop list.

The MP said the ban didn’t make ‘any immediate changes’ to his travel plans and gave him ‘the greatest possible endorsement’ of his parliamentary activity.
