Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne and nephew of King Charles III, has married NHS nurse Harriet Sperling in a private ceremony in the Gloucestershire village of Kemble, marking one of the largest royal family gatherings in recent years.

Senior members of the Royal Family attended the wedding at All Saints Church, including Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, Queen Camilla, as well as Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were notably absent from the celebrations.

The bride wore a lace wedding gown designed by Emilia Wickstead, complemented by the Pragnell family tiara, Pragnell jewellery and Jimmy Choo shoes. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds posed for photographs before departing for their wedding reception at Gatcombe Park, the Gloucestershire estate of Princess Anne.

Phillips, 48, was previously married to Autumn Kelly, with whom he shares two daughters, Savannah and Isla. The couple divorced in 2020 after 12 years of marriage. He began dating Harriet Sperling in 2024, and the relationship quickly attracted public attention.

The ceremony was attended by close family members from both sides. Harriet was escorted down the aisle by her brother Nicholas in honour of their late father, Rupert Sanders, who died in 2023. Bridesmaid duties were carried out by Phillips’ daughters Savannah and Isla, as well as Harriet’s daughter Georgina.

A touching tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II was included in the bride’s bouquet, which featured lily of the valley — one of the late monarch’s favourite flowers. The arrangement also contained myrtle, continuing a tradition observed by royal brides since the 19th century.

Shortly after the ceremony, King Charles III and Queen Camilla departed ahead of other guests in order to attend the Epsom Derby in Surrey. Palace aides reportedly coordinated the schedule to allow the monarch and his wife to attend both family and official engagements on the same day.

The wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling is regarded as the most significant royal family wedding gathering in years and highlighted the continued unity of most senior royals despite ongoing tensions surrounding some members of the wider family.
