Two police officers hospitalised after car incident in Scottish town of Hamilton
A teenager has been arrested after two police officers were rushed to hospital following an incident in Hamilton.
The incident took place on Fleming Way in Hillhouse around 9:30 am on Tuesday, April 28. Police say officers approached and spoke to the driver and passenger of a car on the street.
An officer was injured as the vehicle attempted to flee. The car was then involved in a collision with a stationary vehicle a short distance away.
The 22-year-old male passenger and another officer were injured in the collision. Both were rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the 18-year-old male driver left the scene and was later traced. He has now been arrested in connection with the incident and taken to hospital as a precaution.

Fleming Way remains closed to allow for crash investigations.
Pictures from the scene show a number of police vehicles in the aftermath of the incident. A black car is also seen smashed beside some nearby homes, with the back of a white car also smashed.
An eyewitness said a police helicopter had been dispatched to the scene. Another posted: "Police cars have been in and out of my estate all morning too."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9:30 am on Tuesday, 28 April, 2026, officers approached and spoke to the driver and passenger of a car in Fleming Way, Hamilton.
"As the car attempted to make off, one officer was injured. The car was then involved in a collision with a stationary vehicle a short distance away.
"The 22-year-old male passenger and another officer were injured in the collision. The passenger and two officers were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
"The 18-year-old male driver left the scene and was later traced. He was arrested in connection with the incident and taken to hospital as a precaution.
"Fleming Way remains closed to allow for crash investigations."
