Augments were introduced to Fortnite at the end of last year, with the dawn of Chapter 4. The new mechanic works similarly to perks in other games, and can be found for weapons, characters, and more. The already-extensive list keeps growing, so we'll be filling you in on everything you need to know about about them including how to use, and the list of every Fortnite augment so far.

Augmetns have been a major component of Fortnite Chapter 4. They're buffs you can select for each game to help if you're in a bind, increase your combat ability, or provide you with some game-changing gear. There are currently 26 augments in the game so far, with the most recent five being added in the Fortnite update 23.20 on January 18, 2023.

Epic Games has disabled a few of the augments due to various bugs, including one of the newest – the Shotgun Striker augment – just hours after it went live. It's being investigated along with Party Time and Aerialist, with a promise to return them to the game in a future update once they've been fixed.

These perks are honestly game-changing as getting good or bad options can be the difference between a Victory Royale or your squad being wiped so make sure you familiarise yourself with how to use them and all the options you have so you know when to reroll.

What are Fortnite augments?

Fornite introduced Reality Augments in Chapter 4. Granted at intervals during a match, they provide perks and buffs, like unlimited fuel for vehicles, letting you redeploy your glider during the match, or switching up your weapons. Once a match starts, approximately once every two and a half minutes, you'll be given the choice to pick between one of two randomised augments.

The longer you're in the match, the more augments you can amass. You can stack up to four total, and if you can get a good combo, you can change the course of your game. Bear in mind everyone will be equipping them now, so the longer you survive, the bigger the advantage you'll have.

How to activate Fortnite augments

Once you drop into a match, Fortnite augments will start becoming available around once every two and a half minutes. You'll be able to see when they're ready to use by the countdown timer on the right-hand side of your screen, above your inventory. This gives you time to get a safe place if you want to, but you don't have to immediately select an option so don't panic if you're in the middle of combat.

Once you're ready you can open the augment menu using the corresponding button. While on the menu, you can still move around whether that be on foot or in a vehicle but you can't use weapons, build or interact with objects like chests. Two augment options will appear; if you're not happy with the options that pop up on-screen, you can reroll to see if you can win back the RNG gods' favour. But choose wisely; the first augment reroll of every match is free, but you'll need to hand over 100 gold bars for each subsequent reroll. You can stack up to four augments max.

Fortnite augments list

There are currently 26 augments available in Fornite that can be divided into four categories. These include weapon augments that can buff the guns you have by making reloading faster, increasing your magazine size, and a range of other options. There are also mobility augments that can provide you with the ability to dash in certain situations, unlimited stamina, or even balloons.

You may come across scouting augments that allow you to see information about the storm, track enemies or find treasure. And lastly, there are healing augments that can provide you with healing loot or effects that directly heal you. You can take a look at the complete list of Fortnite augments so far below:
