Sarah Ferguson faces pressure as US officials issue order regarding Epstein evidence
Sarah Ferguson is facing increasing pressure due to demands for her to provide sworn testimony in the United States regarding her knowledge about pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. A US congressman also mentioned that they would be "happy to work out terms that work for her" as long as she agreed to testify under oath.
The former Duchess of York has not been seen in public in over six months since it emerged that her friendship with Epstein lasted longer than she had previously publicly stated.
Emails released as part of the Epstein files in January also showed how she repeatedly begged him for cash, called him a "supreme friend" and appeared to visit him in Florida with her daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie just days after he was released from prison for child sex crimes in 2009.
Fergie’s ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has also faced repeated calls to answer questions about his association with the billionaire financier.
But now attention is turning to Sarah, with Suhas Subramanyam, a congressman on the House Oversight Committee, investigating the handling of Epstein’s prosecution, saying he believes she has "information related to the investigation". He told the BBC : "Sarah Ferguson should give sworn testimony to our committee."
If Fergie were to give evidence in the United States, it could lead her to face awkward questions about ex-prince Andrew. But Mr Subramanyam added how lawmakers would be "happy to work out terms that work for her" as long as the ex-Duchess gave evidence under oath.
Also echoing his calls are congresswoman Melanie Stansbury who said that if Fergie or any other member of their family has information they should co-operate to ensure justice for survivors.
Sky Roberts, the brother of the late Virginia Giuffre, who said she was trafficked to Mountbatten-Windsor, also said Fergie should testify ’immediately’ if she knows anything. Andrew vehemently denies the claims made against him Ms Giuffre.
Meanwhile, a lawyer representing victims of Epstein said Ferguson should also speak to police in the UK and pass on any information she knows.
Gloria Allred told the BBC it was "long overdue" for the former Duchess to volunteer to testify under oath to congress and said she should also speak to police in the UK.
She added: "While many individuals who are named in the Epstein files are able to claim that they had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes against children when they associated with him, that is not a defence that Sarah Ferguson is able to assert."

Fergie cannot be legally forced to testify in the US. Being named in the Epstein files is not an indication of wrongdoing. However, Jonathan Coad, a media lawyer who has represented Sarah in the past, also told the BBC there was "no chance" she would go to the US.
He said: "Of course she won’t, and if she were still my client, my very strong advice to her would be not to go. It would be a disaster for her, for her daughters Beatrice and Eugenie - and also for Andrew, as it would show him up for not going."
The Epstein scandal hit Fergie last September when it emerged that she wrote to the convicted sex offender, calling him a "supreme friend" despite publicly disowning him - prompting a string of charities to drop her as a patron.
Meanwhile, in documents released in January, Fergie appeared to say to Epstein in an email: “I am at your service. Just marry me.” In another email to Epstein she made a crude comment about her daughter Eugenie’s love life and described him as the "brother I have always wished for" and even called the criminal a "legend". Many of the exchanges are dated after Epstein was convicted in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a child.
Another email exchange shows she also appeared to contact him in 2009 when he was still in prison for soliciting sex from a minor. The emails concern her business Mother’s Army, which she appeared to ask Epstein to help her get it off the ground with him taking a stake in the firm.

Fergie was last snapped on September 25, 2025, when she was being driven out of Royal Lodge in Windsor, which she has now been booted out of along with her ex-husband.
It has been speculated that she has spent time abroad, with reports linking her to the United Arab Emirates as well as staying at wellness retreats in Switzerland and Ireland, since she became embroiled in the scandal. The Mirror has contacted representatives of Sarah Ferguson for comment.
Meanwhile, Mountbatten-Windsor has also faced repeated calls to give evidence in the US about his association with Epstein. Previously, Mr Subramanyam accused the former Duke of York of ’hiding’ from them after being summoned to give testimony. Today, the Mirror revealed that a former Conservative Home Secretary blocked the US authorities from questioning Mountbatten-Windsor over his links to Epstein.
Dame Priti Patel held the position in 2020 when the US Department of Justice officially requested Mountbatten-Windsor be "compelled" to answer questions over his relationship with Epstein. A "Request for Assistance" sent to the Home Office stated that FBI agents had documentary evidence suggesting the then-Duke of York had knowledge of the disgraced financier’s offending.
In the event that he declined to be interviewed voluntarily, the letter says, "US authorities request that UK authorities conduct a compelled interview of the witness under oath."
The Mirror revealed that this did not happen after the request, made under the mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT), was blocked by Ms Patel, now shadow foreign secretary.
Mountbatten-Windsor has also not been seen in public in weeks since he was pictured leaving a police station after he was arrested on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office. It came following allegations he shared confidential information with Epstein when he was a trade envoy. He is believed to be holed up on Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate, which he moved into after being booted out of Royal Lodge.
Earlier this week, removal vans specialising in transporting fine art were spotted at Marsh Farm on the King’s estate, where Mountbatten-Windsor is believed to be moving to permanently.
On Tuesday, three large lorries from Gander & White - an art logistics company with a royal warrant - were seen arriving at Marsh Farm, near Wolferton, believed to be carrying paintings.
While yesterday, boxes labelled ’HRH’ were seen being carried into Marsh Farm by removals men. Andrew was stripped from using his HRH title by the late Queen in 2022, when his military titles and royal patronages were returned to the monarch. In October, he was stripped of his prince and Duke of York titles.
