Prince Louis keen to join "grown-up trio" with William and George
With the Wales family all stepping out for Princess Kate’s Together at Christmas concert, body language expert Judi James believes William is preparing his eldest son and heir to the throne to become the key royal figure at major events.
The Princess of Wales has hosted her fifth annual Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey, with Prince William and their children joining in the festive celebration. For the past few years, Kate has been joined at the Abbey by her three kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis - and this year was no exception.
The trio, dressed in a coordinated color scheme, met Kate outside the Abbey before the concert began, with the three young royals waving to onlookers and showing their excitement for the festive evening ahead, in what has quickly become a family tradition.

According to body language expert Judi James, there was one major difference this year as George, Charlotte, and Louis made their way inside, as she explained to the Mirror how the tides could be turning in the Royal Family to prepare the future king for his role.
She said: “Each year we see a new dynamic to the family lineup as the children grow up and the status, and even power signals, between them change and evolve. This year we can see William and his two sons forming a trio of mirrored styling and non-verbal behavior.

“William and George are in choreographic sync as always, although William seems to be gently stepping back to allow George to take the lead more, rather than just sticking close to his father and copying him. George has looked slightly shy in the past and William’s technique here seems to be to gradually take the ‘stabilizers off’ by hanging back to allow George to walk ahead with authentic confidence rather than being nudged to the front.”
The ever-cheeky Prince Louis followed his older brother in tow, and in a change from his previous antics at major royal events, the seven-year-old prince showed an eagerness to be on his best behavior.
Judi said: “Louis still looks busy and distracted at times but we can also see very obvious signs of him looking increasingly keen to join his brother and his dad in a more grown-up looking trio. He seems to be making an effort to keep up with his brother and when the group leaves the service he is suddenly walking way ahead, still clutching his candle.”
While William, George, and Louis all remained stoic and composed during the festive service, young Princess Charlotte mirrored her mother’s excitement, as she beamed in delight when being met outside by the Princess of Wales.
According to Judi: “Charlotte’s expression of open delight as she sees her mother walking out to greet them is another illustration of the very close bonds between the pair. Kate mirrors her daughter’s beaming smile and when the family walk in a line, it’s Charlotte walking close to Kate, with Kate’s hand placed gently and fondly on her back. As William and the boys walk to her side wearing quite serious expressions, Kate throws a look of pride at her very grown-up-looking family.”

With the younger generation of royals quickly growing up, Judi believes that while George may be getting prepared for his future royal duties as the heir to the throne, it’s Princess Charlotte who will maintain the fun, whimsical nature of the children and follow in her mother’s footsteps.
Judi said: “It’s easy to see how much Charlotte mirrors her mother and seems to be sharing her mother’s royal role. While the boys look serious she is the one walking ahead wearing a social royal smile and during the service she seems to be the one looking around as though keeping a watchful eye on her brothers. Like Kate, she seems to have an easy, elegant style of confidence.”
