A masseur at a luxury spa who sexually assaulted five women during treatments has been spared jail.

Ibrahim Ali assaulted the women, who had booked in for back and foot massages, at the Nirvana Spa in Sindlesham, near Wokingham, Berks, in November and December last year.

The women reported that the 36-year-old made them take all their clothes off and put on paper underwear, even if they did not want to, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.

He pulled the towel covering their bodies down lower than necessary and touched them inappropriately.

The CPS said all the women reported Ali’s behaviour to staff at the spa, but it was when one of them went to the police in December last year that an investigation was launched.

Ali, who admitted the charges, was sentenced to two years in jail, suspended for two years, at Reading Crown Court on Monday, court officials said.

He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years, the court confirmed.

He must undertake 40 days of rehabilitation activity and 150 hours of unpaid work, the CPS said, and must pay £500 in compensation to each of the five victims and a further two victims who came forward after his conviction, totaling £3,500.

The lawyer Shilpa Shah, of the CPS, said: “These women should have been able to feel safe and relaxed during their treatments.

“Instead, Ibrahim Ali betrayed their trust, leaving them feeling distressed and violated.

“The fact that all these women were unknown to each other yet recounted strikingly similar offending was a crucial part of our case – and its overall strength meant Ali had little choice but to plead guilty.

“Ali’s actions were criminal and, as this case has shown, we will do all we can to secure justice for victims of sexual assault and abuse.”
