Terrifying photo is reminder to parents to avoid blue swimwear for kids
A startling image of a child barely visible in a large swimming pool has sparked a terrifying warning from nurses.
The photograph shows what initially appears to be an unremarkable outdoor swimming pool with nobody inside the water.
Except a circled area of the pool (pictured below the original image) reveals that a child is in fact beneath the water but practically invisible to the naked eye.
The child was captured wearing pale blue shorts swimming near the bottom of the swimming pool but because of the colour he would prove difficult to see by anyone observing.
Australian Facebook group CPR Kids, run by expert paediatric nurses, shared the image in a bid to warn parents to make sure their children wear visible and brightly coloured clothing while in the water.
Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan share snaps of their new bathroom in £3.5m homeOn Facebook the group said: "Yes, there is a child there, it's hard to believe we know.
"Following on from out post recently on the importance of fluoro (sic) and bright coloured swimwear for kids, one of the CPR Kids Educators was at a pool party with friends and noticed how cloudy the water had become after being used all day.
"She asked one of the children who was wearing a pale blue swimsuit, to swim to the bottom.
"The result shocked her, as it did everyone in the CPR Kids team."
The original Facebook post has attracted hundreds of comments from those who were shocked by the stark image, and it has since been widely shared since it was put online.
Advice on pool parties for children from Royal Life Saving Australia states that the rules and the pool layout should be explained to kids before getting in to the water.
A 'designated child supervisor' should also be tasked with observing the group, possibly more than one if there is a large group present.
