The acting world has been paying tribute to Sandra Seacat following her death at the age of 86.

Sandra, who spearheaded a 'dream method' of acting prep incorporating the work of Carl Jung, died of natural causes in Santa Monica on Tuesday.

She was an actress who had worked on a number of projects, including The Rose, Frances and Crazy in Alabama on the big screen, while she also appeared on Under the Banner of Heaven.

Since 1975, she had conducted her own classes and workshops across the US and Europe.

Following the sad news of her passing, stars who had worked with her took to social media to pay their respects, with a number thanking her for her immense help throughout their career. Her high-profile list of clients had previously included the likes of Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Harvey Keitel, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jessica Lange, Shia LaBeouf and Nicolas Cage.

Among those posting sweet messages was Andrew Garfield, who called her "a true legend in the sense that she lived the most virtuous life one can imagine".

Paying huge credit to her role in the industry the Amazing Spider-Man star said: "She was a revolutionary, a culture changing teacher of acting and storytelling. She is a beacon for all of us of what a life of deep meaning and beauty can look like. And she was irreverent and forever playing like a joyful unbridled child."

He continued: "I feel grateful beyond words to be able to call her my teacher, my acting partner in Under the Banner of Heaven’ my mentor and my friend."

Laura Dern was also gracious for Sandra's role in her career, saying: "Sandra lived by seeing magic and possibility in everything. She met the discovery of character and story with equal protectiveness, irreverence, humility and grace.

"She taught us the practice of investigating healing through acting. But more than that. She invited us to know ourselves as artists and humans in ways I could’ve never begun to explore without her."

The Jurassic Park star, who worked with Sandra on projects such as Daddy And Them in 2001, added: "She’s been my teacher since age 17 and I had the honour of acting alongside her several times. She is my whole heart."

American screenwriter and husband to Olympic diving champion Tom Daley took to Instagram to share his thoughts. On his Stories, he wrote: "How lucky we were to have your guiding light with us on Banner. You will be dearly missed."

Sandra is survived by her husband, Thurn Hoffman, and her daughter, acting teacher Greta Seacat.
