A 24-year-old man and 22-year-old woman have been arrested

Police discovered £60,000 in cash inside a safety deposit box located at The Royal Liver Building following a flat raid. Officers executed a warrant at around 8.30am on Thursday, December 19, at flat on Regent Road in the city centre.

Officers found around 200 blocks of cannabis resin, snap bags and £6,000 in cash. There were also a number of highly valuable items seized by officers, including designer clothes, handbags, shoes, several mobile phones, a Rolex watch and jewellery.

During the search, police found documents and a card that accessed a safety deposit box located at The Royal Liver Building. After searching this box, a further £60,000 in cash was found and seized.

A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both from Liverpool, have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled Class B drug (cannabis) and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property. They have both been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Roberts said: “I hope the seizure of such a large quantity of cash, suspected cannabis and valuables shows how Merseyside Police will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of those intent on peddling drugs on our streets.

“Thanks to the use of this warrant and subsequent search of the flat, we were able to make seizures at two different locations. The people who used this safety deposit box clearly thought their ill-gotten gains were safely secured, but sadly for them, there is no hiding place.

“Two people have been arrested and our enquiries are ongoing as part of the investigation. Information from our communities is vital if we are to continue disrupting serious and organised crime and those who feel as though it’s acceptable to sell drugs in our communities.
