'My son's nursery made a photo diary of his daily adventures - but they're fake'

It can be difficult as parents to stay up to date with how your little one is getting on at school or nursery as they might not give you many details when they get home. Thankfully for one mum this was not the case as her son's nursery kept a photo diary for all the children which they were able to send home to parents so they could see how their tots were getting on.

However, when she inspected the pictures in her son's picture diary more closely, she realised they were not quite as they seemed and the incident has left her feeling confused.

The mum took to the 'Am I Being Unreasonable?' forum on Mumsnet to explain that her son has been struggling with the social aspect of nursery for some time as he has not quite adjusted yet.

In the post, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "His nursery print pictures off and put them in a book with the date and a note about what they've been up to, then send this home with parents at the end/beginning of each term."

She went onto explain that her son has struggled socially, so when she saw his diary she was quite surprised he'd been running about with an adult from the nursery and playing with another child.

But it turned out, these pictures were not quite as accurate as she had first thought.

She said: "However after looking closer these pictures are all from the same "good" day and I remember them telling me about it. Here's an example, with fake dates:

"1.1.23 Bob was brave today and enjoyed running around the playground. Picture of running. 3.1.23 Bob joined in playing ring around the roses and help hands with another child today. Picture. 4.1.23 Bob joined in at dance time today, well done! Picture."

However, all three pictures were from the same day which left her feeling concerned - it's not the only example either, as the diary is littered with other false snaps and dates.

In response, there has been a divided feeling from other parents who have been split on whether this is unreasonable from the nursery.

One person wrote: "I wouldn't like it either, it is misleading. I remember similar happening to us but only sleep and food related."

While another disagreed and stated: "Sounds fine to me. Sounds like they are working hard to help him adjust and doing their best to get him to play independently."
