Team GB win kite surfing gold as Katarina Johnson-Thompson leads heptathlon

Day 13 of the Olympics is already well underway with Team GB winning their 13th gold in Paris courtesy of Eleanor Aldridge in the kite surfing.

Action started early this morning with the women’s 10km marathon swim in the Seine with Leah Crisp competing for Team GB, but it was Netherlands’ Sharon Van Rouwendaal who took gold.

The highlight from a British perspective is likely to centre on Katarina Johnson-Thompson who is targeting success in the women’s heptathlon.

There were high hopes for Jade Jones to become the first three-time Olympic taekwondo champion, but she lost her first fight in devastating fashion.

Bradly Sinden is another British taekwondo star having won silver in Tokyo and was looking to go one better this time round. He can’t get gold but will fight for the bronze medal.

The men’s 200m final is coming up on Thursday evening, with Noah Lyles favourite to win it and double up on gold after his 100m success.

Further athletics golds will be won on Thursday in the women’s long jump, men’s javelin, women’s 400m hurdles and men’s 110m hurdles.
