Huge gas cylinder fire shuts major rail line in and out of London
A huge fire involving a gas cylinder has shut down a major train line between Suffolk and London.
Thick black smoke was seen for miles after a fire broke out at a recycling centre in Great Blakenham near Ipswich.
National Rail has issued a ‘do not travel’ warning to Greater Anglia passengers after the fire next to the railway line.
The fire has closed the entire main line through Ipswich, including trains to London Liverpool Street, with disruption expected until the end of the day.
Residents in the area were told to stay away and keep their windows and doors shut due to ‘lots of smoke coming from the scene,’ Essex Fire Service said.
