The then five-year-old, Prince Louis, charmed spectators with his playful personality at his first major royal at Westminster Abbey for his grand-father’s, King Charles’, coronation

Cheeky Prince Louis won the hearts of the nation when he made an unforgettable impression at King Charles’ Coronation.

The then five-year-old joined his parents, Prince William and Princess Kate, and siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, for the momentous occasion at Westminster Abbey in May last year. And although he only attended the spectacle for a short while, Louis’ playful personality shone through and captured the imagination of royal enthusiasts.

The coronation marked the young prince’s first major formal event, as he did not attend his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in 2022. While the ceremony primarily celebrated the ascension of King Charles and Queen Camilla, it was Louis’ mischievous antics that drew attention.

From dancing in his seat to making funny faces and even cheekily raspberrying his mother, Louis effortlessly charmed spectators, earning adoration during the Platinum Jubilee festivities. Particularly within the halls of the church, Louis displayed a mix of fascination and fatigue, pleasing all who witnessed his presence.

As the Royal Family attended the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, Prince Louis and his older sister Princess Charlotte were spotted engaged in a conversation, sitting together in the front row. The young prince couldn’t resist pointing out something particular to his sister, which surely made her smile.

During the service, Prince Louis was also seen gazing up at the ceiling, seemingly fascinated by its intricate design. The fan-vaulted ceiling at Westminster Abbey is a great example of late medieval architecture, and the perpendicular Gothic lady chapel from the early 16th century displays great architectural design that no doubt caught the young prince’s attention.

In addition to being distracted by the stunning architecture, Prince Louis was also spotted yawning on several occasions during the lengthy service. With the service spanning over two hours, it’s not surprising that Prince Louis might have struggled to stay fully engaged throughout the entire ceremony. Or it’s possible that the young prince was tired from all the excitement leading up to the event.

Despite his earlier moments of restlessness and distraction during the lengthy service, the young prince seemed to have regained his energy and enthusiasm by the end of the event, as shown by his playful grin. As the royal family left Westminster Abbey following the ceremony, he couldn’t resist flashing his signature cheeky smile for the camera, walking alongside the rest of his family. As the young prince grows up, there’s sure to be many more moments of joy and mischief that he will bring to Royal fans.
