Man ‘chases police with chainsaw’ in major incident
A man was filmed reportedly chasing police down the street wielding a chainsaw in a shocking incident.
The man holding a power tool sprints down the residential street behind an officer in a high vis vest, before around a dozen officers are then seen arresting the man.
A force car can also be seen crashed in images from the scene this afternoon, the Scottish Sun reported.
The street was locked down and people were urged to avoid the area ‘following a disturbance’.
Police Scotland said: ‘Around 1pm on May 6, a disturbance involving a weapon occurred following a collision involving a car and a stationary police vehicle on Glasgow Road in Paisley.
‘Two officers were injured and were treated by paramedics.
‘A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
‘There is no wider risk to the public and officers remain at the scene while enquires are ongoing.
‘Glasgow Road is closed between Buchlyvie Road and Allanton Avenue. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use an alternative route.’
