One student has been injured in a shooting incident at a Dallas high school

One student has been injured in a shooting at a high school in Dallas and cops have taken a suspect into custody.

The shooting broke out at Wilmer Hutchins High School shortly after 10.30am on Friday, said the Dallas Independent School District Police Department.

Emergency responders arrived at the Dallas ISD secondary school before 11am and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. The student’s condition was not immediately known.

No other injuries were reported.

 

Police confirmed that an individual is in custody and there was no active threat on the campus.

The suspect’s identity was not immediately disclosed.

Dallas ISD in a Facebook post at 11.14am stated that ‘everyone is safe’.

‘Police are on site to ensure our school remains secure,’ stated Dallas ISD officials on Facebook.

‘At this time, we ask for everyone to refrain from coming to the campus, as we limit access inside. Parents will receive a letter with more details later.’
