Two boys, aged 16 and 17, riding pillion on a bike, have been killed in a crash in Moray with four cars while a 14 year old and a man, 54, are in hospital with serious injuries

Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, who were riding on an e-bike died in a crash involving four cars.

A 14-year-old boy, who was also on the bike, and a man, 54, who was driving a blue Vauxhall Mokka, were rushed to hospital with serious injuries following the accident in Moray, Scotland.

A red Renault Clio, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a white VW Golf were also part of the crash but Police Scotland confirmed that no-one else was hurt. The tragic incident happened on the A941 Lossiemouth to Elgin road in Moray at the junction with the B9135 around 8pm on Monday.

Sadly, the two boys on the e-bike were pronounced dead at the scene. The 14-year-old rider and the injured driver were taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin. The teenager is now said to be stable, while the driver’s condition is described as "critical but stable". 

The road was closed for several hours to allow crash investigation work to be carried out. Police Scotland posted on X at the time: “Due to a road crash the following roads are closed – The A941 is closed between Elgin and Lossiemouth. The B9040 is closed at the junction with the B9135. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.”

Sergeant Iain Nicolson expressed his condolences and appealed to anyone with information to come forward, including those who may have dashcam footage. "Our thoughts are very much with the families and friends of the two teenagers who died and they need privacy at what is a very upsetting and difficult time for all," he said.

"Our investigation into the crash is ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who has not already spoken to officers and who has any information to help with our inquiries. If you have dashcam or anything else that could assist officers, then please get in touch." Anyone who can provide assistance is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3247 of March 25.

The statement from police read: "Road policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal crash on the A941 Lossiemouth to Elgin road at the junction with the B9135 in Moray. The incident happened around 8pm on Monday, 25 March, and involved a Sur-ron e-bike, a blue Vauxhall Mokka, a red Renault Clio, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a white VW Golf.

"Emergency services attended and two male youths, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, pillions on the bike, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 14-year-old male youth, the rider of the bike, was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin with serious injuries. His condition is described as stable.

"The driver of the Mokka, a 54-year-old man, was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin with serious injuries. His condition is described as critical but stable. No one else was injured. The road was closed for crash investigation work to be carried out and re-opened around 11am on Tuesday, 26 March."
