X Factor star unrecognisable six years after show as they reunite with Dermot

This Morning aired a sweet The X Factor reunion on Friday as Dermot O'Leary reunited with former contestant Scarlett Lee, who looked worlds away from her time on the ITV talent show.

Dermot, 50, who now hosts This Morning, presented The X Factor from 2007 to 2014 and resumed the role in 2016 until the show ended in 2018. Meanwhile, former contestant Scarlett, 26, first auditioned for The X Factor in 2017. The singer returned in 2018, where she finished the singing competition as runner-up.

Only recently, Scarlett has soared to fame once again as she auditioned for American Idol, where she impressed the judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, receiving a golden ticket to move forward to Hollywood. Scarlett has also released a debut single, One For You.

Talking about her exciting milestones since The X Factor, Dermot started the interview by saying: "Scarlett, so nice to see you again!" to which Scarlett said: "Dermot, I'm going to get emotional, it's so lovely to see you, honestly!"

Co-host Josie Gibson then added: "Scarlett, when you came in, it was so beautiful because you've obviously been reunited with Dermot, you've been reunited with Dermot's team, it was so lovely to see you all reunited. You could see what a family you were back then."

To which Scarlett added: "Still are!", she continued: "You take those friends with you for life. You don't get to see them all the time [pointing at Dermot] but when you do, the emotions... I'm so overwhelmed as Dermot is such a big part of our household. My mum and dad love him, there's pictures of him everywhere. Honestly, it's like the Hall of Fame of Dermot!"

Talking about her break between The X Factor and now on American Idol, the star admitted: "I had a battle with anxiety, went through a tough break up." Speaking about her time on The X Factor, she said: "I went to bed with 100 followers and woke up with 100,000, my life changed overnight.

"It was absolutely incredible, but with that comes the downside. I had to deal with online trolls and 'oh, she looks like this,' body image, it was just a lot to deal with. So I had a long battle with anxiety and depression and that's why I didn't do music for some time."
