Will Mellor claims Liam Gallagher ended their friendship with very rude gesture

Will Mellor has spoken candidly about a run-in with Liam Gallagher which brought an abrupt end to any chances of the pair becoming pals.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star who is currently touring with the BBC One production explained how he was once a neighbour to the former Oasis legend when he lives in London.

However, things didn't go exactly to plan during a chance encounter one afternoon, despite Liam previously welcoming the former Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps actor to the local area.

Liam who is known for living in North London has his fair share of famous neighbours but it seems he may have been keen to forget about Will.

During an appearance on Jackie Brambles Greatest Hits Radio show, Will, 46, explained: "I used to rent a flat in London when I was working there, and my flat backed onto Liam Gallagher's garden.

"When I first moved in, he came round on a BMX and went 'Alright? Welcome to the area' - the only northerners around!"

Will continued: "One day I was watching Man United on the telly and at half time we were winning, so I came out and stood on my back porch as Liam was in his garden, and shouted 'We're doing alright, aren't we?'

"He went 'What?! Are you a Red?', I said yes and he just gave me the two-finger wave, walked back into his house and never spoke to me again.

"Not quite as neighbourly once he realised I was a United fan!"

However, The Mirror uncovered an archived snap of Will posing outside of Liam's house with a Manchester City top with Lennon 99 printed on the back.

The t-shirt in question was a gift for Liam's son Lennon, who he shares with actress Patsy Kensit before they split in 2000.

Manchester City supporter Liam has made no secret of his dislike for Manchester United in the past, previously stating that the team "ruined his life" in the 1990s.

Elsewhere, Will also shared an insight into his career after Hollyoaks, admitting he'd always been keen on forging a career in the music industry.

He explained that after leaving the Channel 4 programme, former Popstars: The Rivals judge, Pete Waterman, encouraged him to release a cover of Leo Sayer's When I Need You - which reached number five in the charts.

However, Will claims he became "swallowed up" and "was a bit manufactured".
