Arrowhead Game Studios has released the first new Helldivers 2 Warbond since the title launched last month, and it's another premium option so it's fair that you might be on the fence about splashing out on it.

Helldivers 2 launched with two Warbonds when it released – one 'basic' free version, called Helldivers Mobilize, and one premium version called Steeled Veterans that you need to lay down some Super Credits for to unlock. You can buy Super Credits with real money, or grind for them in-game, so you may not have buckets of them lying around to fritter away willy nilly.

The new Helldivers 2 Cutting Edge Warbond is another premium option, coming in at 1,000 Super Credits which is the same price as the premium Steeled Veterans Warbond. If you'd prefer to buy Super Credits rather than grind for them, you can pick up a 1,000 Super Credits bundle for £7.99 / $9.99 / $14.95. If you're going down that path, it's worth looking at discounted PlayStation Store credit and Steam Wallet top-ups on sites like CD Keys – you can often find discounted platform specific cards at almost the same price that'll get you a few quid extra on your account.

We already know the highlights of what's in the new Warbond thanks to the pre-release trailer and info, but we've got a full page-by-page breakdown below, which you can get into after the quick summary of the new weapons, armour, and their stats, which we'll compare to the Helldivers 2 Mobilize and Steeled Veterans Warbonds.

And remember, unlike other titles – like Fortnite and Warzone with their battle passes – Helldivers 2 Warbonds aren't rotated out. They'll remain present in the game as more get added, so you can pick and choose what to spend your Medals on across all of the Warbond options without panicking that they'll disappear forever.

Is Helldivers 2 Cutting Edge Warbond worth it?

In addition to emotes and cosmetics such as capes and helmet, the items in the Helldivers 2 Cutting Edge Warbond that might pique your interest in terms of their stats and passive bonuses are the weapons and armour. There are three armour sets in the new Warbond, four guns, and two grenades, which is exactly the same distribution as the Steeled Veterans Warbond. Both premium Warbonds have just the three pages of content to unlock, compared to Helldivers Mobilize which has 10 pages of unlocks, including 10 armour sets, 11 guns, and nine grenades.

The weapons in the Helldivers 2 Cutting Edge Warbond are all energy-based so that's the main factor that should be informing your decision if you're looking to expand your arsenal. On the stats front, the weapons aren't a world away from what's available on the other two Warbonds so this will come down to your preference.

On the armour front, the stats on two of the armour sets are identical to two in the three Steeled Veterans Warbond (and five found in the Helldivers 2 Mobilize Warbond); the third page armour sets are where the stats deviate between the two premium Warbonds, but there's more to the comparison that just numbers. All of armour sets in the Steeled Veterans Warbond having the Servo-Assisted passive buff that increases throwing range and boosts limb health, while the Cutting Edge Warbond armour sets' passive provides 95% resistance to arc damage.

While this may all seem a bit washy, Arrowhead has made sure that premium Warbonds won't be giving an unfair advantage to players with better stats and buffs compared to the free version. Stats are pretty well-balanced across all three Warbonds with the main difference being passive armour buffs and weapon/ grenade types. Think of it as a sidestep rather than an upgrade to the Helldivers Mobilize and Steeled Veterans Warbonds.

So if you love energy-based weapons and taking on scored of Automatons, or just fancy some new capes, emotes and helmets to spruce up your character, then yes the Helldivers 2 Cutting Edge Warbond is worth it – especially as you can farm Super Credits in-game so don't need to spend any real money on it. If you're not fussed about the cosmetics, emotes or energy weapons in general, then put your Medals toward clearing the 10 pages of the free Warbond, or maybe even the Steeled Veterans Warbond if anything there takes your fancy.

You can delve into every page of the Helldivers 2 Cutting Edge Warbond below. We've included stats where relevant but given that all helmets in the game have the exact same stats and no buffs, we've not included stats for them as they're essentially just cosmetic items. All of the armour sets have the same passive of providing 95% resistance to arc damage.
