Kate's honest admission on how she deals with criticism amid photo drama
It's been an incredibly difficult week for Princess Kate, with unprecedented furore over her edited Mother's Day photo and wild conspiracy theories swirling online. But the future Queen has a clever way to cope in the face of public criticism.
Kate is said to be "very sad" that what was meant to be a happy family photo caused such an international fiasco.
She has been subjected to heavy social media criticism - and a friend said she would likely be "upset" by the commotion caused by "what was supposed to be an innocent family photograph".
As one of the most famous women in the world, Kate is well aware her every move will be heavily scrutinised - and in 2011 she revealed how she copes with such enormous pressure.
Prince William and Kate were interviewed by ITV's Tom Bradby shortly after they announced their engagement.

Mr Brady asked Kate: "You have said your family are very close, does it hurt about what's said or do you let it run off all your collective backs on the grounds that's just what you have to live with?"
Kate replied: "Again I think, the people around home are very supportive to us and those are the people who really matter to us, our close friends and close family.
"I think if they feel you are doing the right thing you can only be true to yourself and you sort of have to ignore a lot of what's said, obviously take it on board, but you have to be yourself really and that's how I have stuck by it really."
The princess added that it was "nerve-wracking" marrying into the Royal Family but said she is "willing to learn quickly and work hard."
It's no secret that Kate is incredibly close to her family, and they will have rallied around to offer additional support - not least because the princess is still recovering from abdominal surgery.
"I had a very happy childhood," Kate said during her appearance on Giovanna Fletcher's podcast, Happy Mum, Happy Baby, back in February 2020.
"It was great fun – I'm very lucky, I've come from a very strong family – my parents were hugely dedicated to us – my siblings. I really appreciate now as a parent how much they sacrificed for us.
She continued: "They would come to every sports match – I was very keen on sport – they came to every sports match, they'd be the ones on the side-line shouting, and we’d always have our family holidays together.
"But I think the things that really resonate with me most are the simple things and actually I see that now with my own children, life now is so busy, so distracting and actually sometimes the simple things like watching a on a really rainy day provides such enjoyment.
"I remember that from my childhood – doing the simple things, going for a walk together, and that's really what I try and do with my children as well because it totally strips away all the complications, all the pressures."
