Kate Beckinsale had the perfect hospital guests to help pick her up after she sparked concern among her fans on social media.

The 50-year-old took to Instagram on Monday afternoon to share a belated post celebrating both Mother's Day and the birthday of her mother Judy Loe, 77. But the quirky star did it with some snaps from her hospital bed, looking downcast and teary-eyed wearing a blue gown.

She is yet to confirm why she's staying in but a source claimed to ET that the actress "hasn't been doing or feeling well". but is "doing her best to take care of herself". Grieving the death of her stepfather Roy Battersby, she needed a boost and most people know the one thing guaranteed to bring out a smile.

Kate received a visit from one of her beloved cats as well as her Pomeranian, named Myf, and uploaded some photos with the dog in lap. She took to her Instagram Stories to announce her 'visitors' and continues to keep her fans updated on her hospital stay. Kate's pets are the unwitting stars of her Instagram account as she dresses them up weekly in wacky costumes.

In her Mother's Day post earlier in the week, Kate showed shots of Judy - who had just celebrated her birthday - tucking into cake and sinking some champagne. There was also a screenshot of an apparent exchange between Kate and her mother, in which the latter thanked her daughter for her presents.

There were also some photos of Kate seemingly in hospital included in the post. They showed her wearing a blue gown whilst lying in a bed. A monitor was seen beside her in one photo and another showed Nina Kate keeping her company. Kate appeared teary-eyed in the photos.

She wrote in the caption of her post: "Happy birthday and UK Mother's Day this last week to my incredible mother. Thank you to those that love us and support us when it's shit and try to make sure there are some bits that aren't."

"And for looking after our dogs when we can't, and lead us to remember happy things when we can't. And turn up when we are sick and sit with us. And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love," she further commented. Kate - who's been in the films like Pearl Harbor (2001) and Van Helsing (2004) - added: "Thank you for loving us, those who do, and for the amazing, kindest Nick, and especially for my mother's capacity for joy. It is so inspiring and beautiful."

The award-winning actor concluded the recent post on the platform by writing in the caption: "Happy everything mama. Your fight for joy despite also welcoming tears is the experience of watching a warrior up close. I love you." Fans have expressed concern in the comments section of the post this week. One person asked: "Are you OK? Why are you in a hospital? Please get well soon." Another questioned in their response to Kate's recent post: "Wtf happened?"

A third person asked: "Are you ok Kate? I hope you are fine. We love you." Whilst someone else replied: "I pray for your recovery, whatever it is you may be going through Kate." Another fan said: "Sorry you're not feeling well I'll pray for a speedy recovery. God bless." Others wrote: "Get well soon."

Kate is believed to have been caring for her mother Judy and her late step-father Roy Battersby in recent months. It was then announced earlier this year that BAFTA winning director Roy had passed away, aged 87, back in January.
